5. Resident and Fellow Responsibilities
Junior Resident: (Intern/Moonlighter/Subspecialty Fellow) 
  
- Daily note writing on inpatients covered on AM rounds
  
 - Communicate with ICU fellows / primary teams on consult pts to give plans
  
 - Respond to pages from inpatient floors on consult patients
  
 - Respond to pages on primary service patients if NP unavailable
  
 - Receives new inpatient floor consults
  
 - Maintains Census list along with Senior resident
  
 - Perform “Morning/Night Talks” with surg floor charge nurses at 9 am and 10pm, respectively, when on-call
  
 - Assist w/ traumas if multiple or requested by senior resident/fellow
  
 
 
  
Senior Residents 
  
- Daily note writing on inpatients covered on AM rounds
  
 - Communicate with ICU fellows / primary teams on consult pts to give plans
  
 - Respond to pages from ER on consult patients
  
 - Respond to pages on primary service patients if NP unavailable
  
 - Maintains Census list along with Junior resident
  
 - Assists junior resident w/ unfamiliar bedside procedures (CT removal, etc.)
  
 - “Doc-Right” in Trauma bay for all trauma   
 - Provide guidance to Jr resident regarding floor consults / inpt management
  
 - Help coordinate team after rounds regarding calling primary services about consult patients, pre-op for tomorrow’s cases, procedures to be done, etc.   
 
 
  
Sub-specialty Fellows
  
- Expected to attend AM rounds weekdays, and on-call weekends
  
 - OR case coverage as assigned by the Pediatric Surgery Fellows at rounds
  
 - Clinic / sub-specialty duties as structured by the sub-specialty fellowship
  
 - Perform duties of Senior or Junior resident depending on the call schedule
  
 - Maintain and rotate on the Transplant Harvest Call Schedule 
  
 - Assist with care of ECMO patients
  
 - Assist with PM rounds on the occasion that a Pediatric Surgery Fellow is not available to run rounds.
 
All NICU calls, regardless of how trivial, should be redirected to a Pediatric Surgery Fellow
